In a resounding endorsement of its commitment to gender equity, BusinessDay, West Africa’s foremost business and financial news outlet, has been honoured by Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WimBiz) with a prestigious appreciation award.
The accolade was formally presented to Ngozi Okpalakunne, correspondent for BusinessDay Sunday, during the WimBoard Mentoring Graduation Ceremony held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, recently.
The event marked the culmination of WimBiz’s intensive leadership development initiative aimed at empowering women to take their rightful place on corporate and public boards.
Delivering the commendation, Executive Director of WimBiz, Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, stated emphatically: “This award is in appreciation to BusinessDay Newspaper for your unwavering support to the organisation and your dedication to amplifying women’s voices in leadership, business and public service.”
Akingbohungbe further underscored the indispensable role of the media in driving systemic change.
“We do not undermine the roles and importance of the media in amplifying our voice and projecting what we do in ensuring that women get equal opportunity in leadership, business, and public service,” she said.
This recognition reaffirms BusinessDay’s position not merely as a chronicler of economic affairs, but as a proactive force in shaping a more inclusive and equitable business landscape across the region.
