The African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly has nominated Akinkunmi Joseph Oladipupo, Chief Executive Officer of Alveena Events, as an Agenda 2063 Ambassador. The appointment gives him the responsibility of promoting the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the continent’s long-term strategic framework for socio-economic transformation.
Agenda 2063, introduced in 2013, is designed as Africa’s blueprint for inclusive growth, development, and continental integration over the coming decades. It is structured around seven Aspirations that set out the vision of “The Africa We Want.” These include the pursuit of peace, prosperity, unity, and Africa’s role as a force in global affairs.
Of particular significance is the second Aspiration, which seeks “an integrated and politically united Africa based on the ideals of Pan-Africanism and the vision of Africa’s Renaissance.” This goal reflects the ambitions first articulated by Africa’s founding leaders in 1963 and continues to shape the continent’s collective agenda today.
As an Agenda 2063 Ambassador, Oladipupo will work to advance these priorities at both continental and international levels. His role will include encouraging cross-border collaboration, supporting economic initiatives, and promoting policies that enhance Africa’s global influence. Ambassadors are also expected to contribute to addressing critical challenges such as inequality, infrastructure gaps, and the need to create opportunities for Africa’s youth population.
The Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly explained that Ambassadors are selected through a rigorous process and serve as representatives and advocates for the African Union’s vision. Their work involves engaging governments, institutions, and citizens to drive the implementation of policies aligned with the framework.
In its statement, the Assembly noted that Oladipupo’s appointment acknowledges his contributions to African development and his capacity to support initiatives that move the continent closer to achieving Agenda 2063 goals. “Ambassadors serve not only as representatives but also as catalysts for action,” the Assembly said.
The African Union emphasised the need for collaboration across all sectors to ensure the aspirations of Agenda 2063 are met. It underscored that the framework represents a long-term plan requiring the commitment of leaders, stakeholders, and citizens to create “an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa.”
Preparations are ongoing for the official conferment of the title, with the African Union confirming its readiness to work with Oladipupo in the years ahead.
The nomination is both a recognition of his past work and a call to contribute further to the shared objectives of the African Union and its vision for the continent’s future.
