Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have neutralised four armed militia members and recovered weapons during a rapid response operation to renewed communal violence in Usmanu Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
In a statement signed by Umar Muhammed, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the Brigade said the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Muhammed explained that the deployment followed credible intelligence on a fresh escalation of the long-running land dispute between the Shomo and Wurkun communities. The clashes, he said, had resulted in multiple deaths and widespread destruction, including the burning of houses.
He noted that troops were immediately mobilised to stabilise the area and prevent further deterioration of the security situation.
“Upon reaching the area, the troops came under fire from armed assailants emerging from the Fadama axis. A brief but fierce exchange ensued, during which four of the attackers were neutralised.
“Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of three dane guns, one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles,” he said.
Muhammed added that the operation also uncovered a particularly troubling development, a personnel of the Nigeria Police Force found operating alongside the armed militia.
“He was arrested and is currently undergoing investigation and profiling to determine his level of involvement,” he said.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Command for comments on the incident were unsuccessful, as calls to his mobile phone went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
