A new book titled ‘Shaykh (Dr.) Moh’d Bashir Imam Solih OON: The Spiritual Orator’, authored by Arowona Abdulazeez, Publisher of Royal News Online Newspaper, was on Thursday unveiled in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The 369-page, 14-chapter biography chronicles the life and service of the Chief Imam of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Ulama, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih. It captures his birth, early life, and remarkable career, including his appointment at the age of 33 as the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin in October 1983 by the 9th Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Zuluqarnaini Gambari Mohammed CFR.
The book was reviewed by Yusuf Lanre Badmus, a Professor of Islamic Studies, from the Department of Religion, University of Ilorin.
Represented at the event by Abdulhameed Yusuf, Associate Professor at the same University, he described the publication as lucid, top-notch, and captivating.
The reviewer noted that the author, Arowona, who has written several books, boasts a wide and credible network within and outside the country, an advantage that reflects strongly in the quality of the work.
He commended the celebration of the Chief Imam’s virtues, describing Imam Solih as an exemplary spiritual leader recognised internationally for his dignified speech, conduct, and leadership.
According to him, the book is thematically structured into three parts: the life of Imam Solih, his commitments, and tributes from eminent personalities including the Sultan of Sokoto and the Emir of Ilorin, among others.
He however recommended that subsequent editions should include more detailed biographical accounts, direct interviews, and well-referenced documentation to further enrich the work.
