Bayelsa State has continued their dominance at the 2025 National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged ‘Gateway Games 2024‘, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, by maintaining the top position on the medals table after Day Four of the event.
Team Bayelsa currently leads with a total of 27 medals, comprising 16 gold, six silver, and five bronze, cementing their place as the team to beat in the ongoing multi-sport event.
Delta State made a significant leap to second place following a strong outing on Day Three and now boasts 10 gold, five silver, and six bronze medals.

Osun State sit in third position with six gold and one silver, closely followed by Rivers State in fourth, with five gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.
Lagos State rounds off the top five with four gold, seven silver, and 10 bronze, while Oyo State occupies sixth with four gold, two silver, and six bronze.
Akwa Ibom follows in seventh with four gold and one silver, and Plateau State holds the eighth spot with three gold, two silver, and six bronze.
Cross River, which led the medals table on Day One, has dropped to ninth place with three gold, one silver, and one bronze, while Edo State completes the top 10 with two gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
Bayelsa’s dominance was boosted earlier in the day by Lucky Joseph, who secured three gold medals in the weightlifting +109kg category. The duo of Samuel Mason and Kyogen Philip added another gold in men’s doubles, while Sanusi Abdulfathi won gold in taekwondo, and Peter Oyakemeagbegha continued his fine form with gold in the Kungfu Sanshou 56kg category.
Despite Member Florence settling for silver in her event, Team Bayelsa remains in commanding form and looks poised to maintain its lead heading into the festival’s crucial stages.
