Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have rescued two kidnapped victims and intercepted a suspected gun runner in separate operations across Plateau and Kaduna States.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Polycarp Oteh a Captain and Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, made available to Journalists on Tuesday in Jos.
“As part of the ongoing deliberate efforts and decisive offensive against criminal elements terrorizing innocent citizens within its Joint Operations Area, troops have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims,” the statement said.
It added that troops on aggressive fighting patrol made contact with the criminals while they were conveying the victims to their hideouts, forcing them to abandon the captives and flee into nearby bushes.
“The rescue took place around Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, where troops deployed at Wase are maintaining sustained offensives against criminal elements.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were abducted at gunpoint on February 22, 2026, from Mansur village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
“The victims have since been debriefed, while efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families as troops continue combing the bushes to apprehend the fleeing suspects and possibly rescue other abducted persons”; the statement added.
The statement further said that the troops deployed at Sanga in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State intercepted a suspected gun runner during a stop-and-search operation at Kurmin Goro village.
The 36-year-old suspect, identified as Vincent Ibrahim, was allegedly conveying five fabricated rifles to an undisclosed location in Kafanchan when he was intercepted and taken into custody.
Oteh said Folusho Oyilola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Joint Task Force (OPEP) commended the troops for their alertness and decisive action, assuring citizens of their unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
