…win five gold, 10 bronze
TotalEnergies have recorded a strong performance at the 20th edition of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG 2026), winning five gold and 10 bronze medals to finish fourth on the overall medals table.
The company’s medal haul placed it among the top-performing teams at the annual multi-sport competition, which brings together athletes from across Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Adesua Adewole, athlete with TOTALENERGIES, set the tone for the team by clinching gold in the female golf event, opening the company’s gold medal account.
Ejehi Effiong, veteran athlete before TOTALENERGIES, added to her long-standing record by securing bronze medals in the veteran lawn tennis and squash events, further boosting the team’s overall tally.
Nonye Finecountry, athlete before TOTALENERGIES, sustained the strong showing by the company’s female athletes, winning gold in the 8 Ball Pool event.
In the team category, the scrabble quartet of Reni Orioke, Ugonma Dennis-Akano, Godfrey Ojile, and Emmanuel Egbele, athletes before TOTALENERGIES, secured the gold medal in the scrabble team event.
In his goodwill message at the grand finale of the games, Matthieu Bouyer, Country Chair, Total Energies Nigeria, described sports as a vital part of the company’s heritage and corporate culture.
He said sports play a central role in promoting wellbeing, teamwork, leadership, fairness, and confidence, values that extend beyond competition into everyday professional life.
Bouyer noted that TotalEnergies has consistently supported sports development in Nigeria and across Africa through sponsorship of Confederation of African Football competitions, Nigerian basketball leagues, the annual TOTALENERGIES charity golf tournament, and grassroots football initiatives in host communities.
He added that the company also participates actively in international sporting events, including the TotalEnergy African Touch Rugby Tournament and the Touch Cup in France, while encouraging staff participation in sports clubs.
Bouyer stressed that safety remains a core value of TotalEnergies and urged all participants to uphold the company’s safety commitment throughout sporting activities.
The strong showing at NOGIG 2026, he said, reflects the company’s commitment to teamwork, excellence, and healthy competition within the oil and gas industry.
