President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate requesting the confirmation of Taiwo Oyedele as a Minister.
Tinubu had, on March 3, 2026, nominated Oyedele who currently serves as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms as Minister of State for Finance.
If confirmed, Oyedele will replace Doris Uzoka-Anite, who is set to move to the Ministry of Budget and Planning as Minister of State. The new assignment will mark her third Ministerial role under the Tinubu’s Administration.
The letter conveying the nomination was read on the Senate floor on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary.

In the correspondence, President Tinubu said the nomination was in accordance with constitutional provisions.
“In compliance with the provisions of section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I am pleased to forward to the Senate for confirmation the nomination of Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the

Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole House for further legislative consideration.
“Well, in line with our practice and as a result of the urgency, this is referred to the Committee of the Whole for future consideration,” Akpabio said.
