The Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday, March 9, 2026, began screening the nine nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
Siminalayi Fubara, state governor, had on February 12, 2026, sacked his entire cabinet, and subsequently sent a list of commissioner-nominees to the Assembly.
The Assembly last week invited the nominees for the screening.
Martin Amaewhule, Speaker of the Assembly, during plenary on Friday, said the delay in screening the nominees was due to the fact that only seven of them had submitted their CVs and credentials.
Emeka Amadi, Clerk of the House, in the letter of invitation, requested all the nominees to appear at the Rivers State House of Assembly Chamber, Assembly Quarters, Port Harcourt, on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
