Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has condemned the deadly attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where gunmen killed a school official and abducted several students.
In a statement issued on Monday by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Radda described the incident as a tragic reminder of the escalating violence targeting educational institutions in the northern region.
He expressed deep sadness over the killing of the school’s Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, noting that the violent assault represented “the worst form of criminality.”
The governor extended condolences to Governor Nasir Idris, the government and people of Kebbi State, and particularly the families affected by the attack. He stressed that such acts of terror undermine not only the safety of schoolchildren but the future of the country itself.
“This attack on a school is not just an assault on education but an attack on our collective future,” Governor Radda said. “We must remain united in fighting these criminals who threaten the safety of our children.”
He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted students and ensure that those responsible for the attack are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.

The attack in Kebbi State adds to a worrying pattern of assaults on schools in the region, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures around educational institutions, particularly in rural and vulnerable communities.
