The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismantled a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate, arrested four of its members and recovering six stolen vehicles along with more than ₦15 million in cash.
Acting on credible intelligence and leveraging digital forensic reconstruction, the operation spanned multiple divisions, including Jabi, Gwagwalada, and Mabushi, where three stolen vehicles were initially recovered.
The Command’s specialised Scorpion Squad expanded the investigation, leading to additional arrests, the recovery of four more vehicles, and the seizure of cash intended for the purchase of stolen cars.

Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, explained that among the recovered vehicles are a black 2008 Toyota Prado SUV, registered RSH 967 JJ, seized by Jabi Division, a grey 2009 KIA Optima with registration RMY 88 AA recovered by Mabushi Division, and a grey Toyota Corolla retrieved by Gwagwalada Division.
“The Scorpion Squad later recovered a grey Toyota Corolla, registration JUX 890 AA, an ash-coloured Toyota Camry (pencil-light), registration APR 459 AE, and a black Toyota Corolla, registration 578 AA.
“Investigations led to the arrest of four suspects, identified as Dalhatu Bashiru, an ex-convict, Nwadigo Emmanuel, Uchenna Kalu, and Alhaji Jazuli Adamu. Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, identified as the principal receiver of stolen vehicles, was apprehended in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State with ₦15,280,000 in cash, money reportedly intended for the latest batch of stolen vehicles”, it added.
Further investigations revealed that Adamu works closely with an accomplice, Alhaji Abdulkarim Gabeida Ibrahim, a citizen of the Niger Republic who allegedly coordinates the resale of stolen vehicles across the border. Ibrahim remains at large, with authorities actively pursuing his arrest.
“All suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody as the FCT Police continue to track down other fleeing members of the gang.”
Miller Dantawaye, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, commended the officers for their dedication to ensuring security in the FCT.
He advised vehicle owners to install functional car trackers to aid in recovery in case of theft and urged residents to support police operations by providing credible information through the Command’s emergency lines, 08032003913 and 08061581938.
