Ayuba Baggat, the President of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has condemned the recent killings in Plateau State, describing them as a brutal assault on Christians and humanity.
The latest attacks left 10 dead in Ratatis, Barkin Ladi, and one killed in Nzharivo, Bassa LGA.
In a statement issued by Danjuma Auta, Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ECWA, Baggat expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and destruction of property.
“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of precious lives in Dorowa Babuje and Nzharivo. These coordinated attacks are not just an assault on individuals; they are a direct assault on Christianity and the sanctity of human life,” he said.
“We stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and all those grappling with the fear and grief that these acts of terror have sown in our communities”; Baggat added stressing ECWA’s unwavering support for affected communities.
“The concern shown by State governor, Caleb Manaseh Mutfwang is commendable, but the government must urgently rejuvenate the security architecture. Communities cannot continue to live under constant fear and displacement,” the ECWA President emphasized.
He called on the Federal Government and Plateau State authorities to strengthen protection of lives and property, urging security agencies to investigate the incidents thoroughly and ensure the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and punished to deter further attacks.
Baggat further appealed for lasting solutions to insecurity, stressing that proactive strategies addressing the root causes are essential.
Only sustained government intervention, he noted, can restore confidence and safety to vulnerable communities.
The ECWA leader also advised residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly, and reject divisive ideologies that seek to fracture communities along ethnic or religious lines, calling for unity in the face of violence.
He urged NGOs, religious organizations, and well-meaning individuals to provide urgent assistance to displaced persons and families who lost livelihoods during the attacks, while praying for speedy recovery of the injured and comfort for grieving families.
Baggat reminded Christians of their calling as peacemakers. He emphasized that dismantling fear with love, prayer, and practical support is key to rebuilding trust, harmony, and compassion in affected communities.
