Nottingham Forest have sacked Sean Dyche after almost four months in charge, with former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira emerging as the leading candidate to replace him.
Dyche becomes the third manager dismissed by Forest this season. His departure was confirmed shortly after midnight on Thursday, following Wednesday’s 0–0 draw with Wolves, a result that left the club 17th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.
Pereira is reported to be the current sole candidate under consideration by Forest’s hierarchy.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis previously employed the Portuguese coach at Olympiakos, where he won the league and cup double in 2015. That prior working relationship is understood to be a significant factor in his candidacy.
Pereira was sacked by Wolves in November but successfully kept them in the Premier League last season, demonstrating his ability to steer a club clear of relegation trouble.
Forest’s managerial instability has defined a turbulent campaign. Nuno Espírito Santo was dismissed in September after just three league matches despite guiding the club into the Europa League.
Ange Postecoglou followed but lasted only eight matches, a tenure of just 39 days.
Dyche’s stint proved slightly longer but ultimately unsuccessful, leaving Forest once again searching for stability as they battle to avoid the drop.
