The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, has said no election anywhere in the world is flawless.
Amupitan made this remarks while receiving a delegation from the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria (FOSIECON) during a meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.
He acknowledged that while perfection may be unattainable, public expectations of the commission remain high.
He said Nigerians are watching the electoral body with “heightened anticipation and scrutiny,” stressing that there must be no room for avoidable errors in the conduct of elections.
The INEC chairman noted that despite extensive publicity, voter register displays, and the use of text messages and emails before recent elections, some voters still struggled to locate their polling units.

According to him, this gap highlights the need for more effective voter communication.
“Our policies may be sound and our intentions noble, but if citizens do not understand our processes, then the objective is only half achieved,” he said.
He therefore directed Resident Electoral Commissioners nationwide to intensify voter education and public sensitisation efforts.
Amupitan stressed that voter awareness must be continuous rather than seasonal, urging citizens to verify their polling unit information early using INEC’s online locator or by physically visiting their polling centres ahead of elections.
He called on electoral officials to return to their states with renewed commitment, adding that excellence in electoral administration must remain non-negotiable.
Earlier in his remarks, FOSIECON National Chairman, Mamman Nda Eri, said the visit formed part of efforts to deepen electoral governance at the state and local government levels.
