Driving leadership among women in Nigerian marketing profession will top discussion when National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) holds its maiden edition of its annual Leadhers marketing conference in Lagos Friday, this week.
The conference is coming at a time when conversations around women empowerment have continued to dominate global discourse. Today, gender inclusion, management leadership positions and economic involvement for women are receiving greater attention across industries. Many organizations are rising, speaking for women with less groups speaking for men.
Bolajoko Bayo-Ajayi, President and Chairman of the Council of NIMN who was installed as the first female leader of the institute late 2025 told newsmen that the theme of the conference is “Redefining influence: Women shaping the future of marketing”.
According to her, the emphasis is about driving leadership within women in marketing. “For us, the vision that we have is to ensure that we are building women into leadership positions in marketing”, she said.
The president noted that more women are coming into marketing and at the centre of the NIMN vision is to build the personal development of women marketers in Nigeria into leadership positions.
She reiterated NIMN commitment to professional excellence and inclusive growth, stating that this empowerment programme is part of a broader strategy to reposition the marketing profession for economic growth.
Explaining the theme, she said it is about “how you also influence other people within your area. For example, you have someone who is a CEO, who has probably gone through marketing. The job doesn’t end in your personal achievements” as others need to learn from the executive.
