Investors in the shares of two major pharmaceutical companies –Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc and May & Baker Nigeria Plc as well as those holding the shares of Skye Bank Plc, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, and Oando Plc were worst hit in last week’s record loss in excess of N300billion.
In the trading week to September 15, 2017, twenty-three (23) equities appreciated in price, lower than twenty-eight (28) in the preceding trading week.
Forty-five (45) equities depreciated in price, higher than thirty-eight (38) equities in the preceding trading week, while 104 equities remained unchanged lower than 105 equities recorded in the preceding week.
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index (ASI) and Market Capitalisation depreciated by 2.65percent and 2.63percent to close the review week at 35,005.57 points and N12.068 trillion respectively, against week open level of 35,957.24 points and N12.393 trillion.
The value of listed Nigerian equities lost about N325billion last week. Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc declined most by 13kobo or 15.66percent as its share price dropped from 83kobo to 70kobo.
Also on the top losers table in the trading week to September 15 is Skye Bank Plc which lost 7kobo or 11.86 percent of its week-open share price. The bank share price declined from 59kobo to 52kobo. May & Baker Nigeria Plc lost 32kobo or 10.67percent, from N3 to N2.68.
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc lost N2.60 or 8.67percent of its week-open price from N30 to N27.40. Linkage Assurance Plc declined from 64kobo to 59kobo, which represents 5kobo loss or 7.81percent decline.
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc share price lost 15kobo or 7.32percent in one week, from N2.05 to N1.90; while Oando Plc share price declined by 46kobo or 7.07percent, from N6.51 to N6.05.
Presco Plc lost N4.49 or 6.91percent, from N64.98 to N60.49. Lafarge Africa Plc share price declined from N52.77 to N49.97, down by N2.80 or 5.31percent. Unity Bank Plc lost 3kobo or 5.26 percent in one week, from 57kobo to 54kobo.
N.E.M Insurance Company (Nigeria) Plc gained most by 19kobo or 19percent, from N1 to N1.19; C & I Leasing Plc increased by 13kobo or 12.26percent, from N1.06 N1.19. International Breweries Plc gained N3.38 or 9.50percent, from N35.57 to N38.95.
Newrest ASL Nigeria Plc gained 54kobo or 9.06percent, from N5.96 to N6.50. UAC of Nigeria Plc gained 85kobo or 5.82percent, from N14.60 N15.45.
Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc gained 7kobo or 5.56percent, from N1.26 to N1.33. Okomu Oil Palm Plc rose by N3.50 or 5.56percent, from N63 or N66.50. Cutix Plc gained 13kobo or 5percent, from N2.60 to N2.73.
Seplat Petroleum Development Company Limited gained N22.89 or 5percent, from N457.90 to N480.79. Transcorp Hotels Plc share price rose by 34kobo or 4.95percent last week, from N6.87 to N7.21.
