Meta has launched “Make Am with Meta AI,” a new campaign designed to showcase how everyday Nigerians are leveraging Meta AI to enhance their daily lives, foster creativity, and overcome challenges.
The initiative highlights the widespread adoption of Meta AI as a free and accessible assistant available across Meta’s popular platforms: WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger.
The campaign, titled “Make Am,” draws from a popular Nigerian colloquialism that signifies success and progress achieved through diligent effort and resilience.
This ethos, according to Meta, perfectly encapsulates how Nigerians are utilising Meta AI to get instant answers, generate creative content, acquire new skills, and explore fresh ideas.
“For many Nigerians, access to education and resources is a significant challenge. But with Meta AI, those barriers are being broken down,” stated Balkissa Ide Siddo, Public Policy Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta.
“Students can get help with homework, entrepreneurs can learn new skills, and artists can find inspiration. Meta AI is the bridge that connects Nigerians to new possibilities, providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed.”
Meta AI is presented as a versatile tool for a diverse range of users. Features like ‘Search’ provide rapid, comprehensive answers powered by Meta’s unique dataset, including local trending information. making it an invaluable resource for students and professionals. The ‘Invoke’ function allows users to integrate Meta AI directly into WhatsApp group chats for quick answers, trivia, or planning. Additionally, ‘Imagine’ empowers users to transform ideas into visuals, useful for business pitches, personal greetings, or social media content.
The campaign features testimonies from prominent Nigerian creators who have integrated Meta AI into their workflows. Tomike Adeoye, a well-known lifestyle content creator, described Meta AI as her “tireless creative partner.”
Ify’s Kitchen, celebrated for her recipe videos, noted that Meta AI helps her “rediscover the joy of wholesome cooking and staying connected to our rich food culture.” While Nancy Umeh, a lifestyle and family content creator, highlighted Meta AI’s utility for fact-checking, recalling how it verified the safety of an ingredient for a baby weaning recipe, citing academic sources.
Meta emphasises that its AI assistant is not a futuristic concept but a readily available tool embedded within the apps Nigerians use daily. Users can access Meta AI by tapping a blue circle within the apps or by typing “@Meta AI” in a group chat.
