A former chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Bwari, Haruna Audi, has expressed concern over the low voter turnout in the ongoing area council elections, despite describing the voting process as peaceful and efficient.
Audi, who was replaced by Joshua Ishaku, the party’s candidate, cast his vote at Polling Unit 001, Ushafa I & II, Ushafa Primary School.
He noted that accreditation and voting were seamless and took only a few minutes, an improvement compared to previous elections.
However, he said the sparse turnout was worrisome, attributing it partly to dissatisfaction among party members over what he described as internal imposition during the candidate selection process.
Despite being replaced, Audi reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stating that he came out to vote in support of the party and its leadership.
He urged voters to participate in the process, stressing that civic engagement remains essential to strengthening grassroots democracy.
