Global telecoms provider Lebara has announced a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy as it gears up to launch operations in Nigeria later this year.
The collaboration was unveiled during an event held on Friday, May 9, attended by top government officials and key players in the telecommunications and creative industries.
Hannatu Musa Musawa, the minister of creative economy welcomed the initiative, emphasising the critical role of technology in enhancing cultural engagement, uniting communities, and driving national growth.
“We welcome this partnership with Lebara, as it aligns with our vision to harness the power of technology to enhance cultural engagement, unite communities, and drive national growth”.
Scheduled to roll out in Q3 2025, Lebara’s entry into Nigeria aims to meet rising citizen’s demand for affordable, transparent, and people-focused telecom services. The company’s partnership with the Ministry underscores its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s vibrant creative sectors, tourism, and cultural heritage through digital innovation.
Lebara recognises the critical role of connectivity in empowering creators, whose businesses depend heavily on effective connectivity to access global markets, collaborate, and work efficiently. By bridging the connectivity gap, Lebara aims to unlock new opportunities for creators and stimulate economic growth.
As part of the alliance, Lebara will launch initiatives that celebrate Nigerian culture, encourage domestic tourism, and empower content creators. These efforts are intended to foster community connections, stimulate economic opportunities, and amplify Nigeria’s cultural footprint using modern communication tools. Lebara will also support the Ministry’s efforts to create and transform thousands of community centers by providing data and telecommunication structures, thereby promoting digital inclusion and community development.
“This partnership speaks to our vision of telecoms as a catalyst not just for connectivity, but for creativity, community, and country”, says Mary O. Fasheitan; chief operating officer, Lebara Nigeria.
“We’re excited to collaborate with the Ministry to deliver impactful initiativesthat reflect Nigeria’s identity and future aspirations”.
Both Lebara and the Ministry affirmed that the partnership is more than a commercial venture. It is a shared mission to broaden access to information, uplift homegrown talent, and merge technology with culture in shaping a forward-looking Nigeria.
