Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reinforced their status as Africa’s dominant women’s football force, with five players named in the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s Africa Best XI for 2025.
According to the list published by the IFFHS, the Nigerian list consists of goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie; defenders Michelle Alozie and Ashleigh Plumptre; midfielder Christy Ucheibe; and forward Rasheedat Ajibade.

South Africa is represented by defenders Bambanani Mbane and Lebohang Ramalepe. The remaining places went to Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak, Malawi forward Temwa Chawinga, Zambia striker Barbra Banda, and Morocco’s Sanaâ Mssoudy.
The selection highlights outstanding performers from Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, Malawi and Zambia, nations currently driving the growth and competitiveness of women’s football on the continent.
The IFFHS explained that the Women’s Africa Best XI is a forward-looking selection for 2025 rather than a retrospective award, based on a blend of statistical analysis and expert evaluation of performances at both club and international levels.
Despite the individual accolades, the Super Falcons are expected to remain focused on the challenge ahead, as they are strong favourites to defend their title when the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) returns to Morocco in March.
