Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area of the State following renewed violent attacks and rising security concerns in parts of the area.
The curfew, which takes immediate effect, came after reported disturbances and breaches of peace in several communities within Lamurde LGA.
In a statement announcing the directive, the governor described the recent violence as unacceptable and warned that the Government would not tolerate actions capable of threatening public safety.
“Government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” the governor said.
He warned that any individual or group found violating the curfew order would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Governor Fintiri also directed security agencies to ensure full enforcement of the curfew and to intensify efforts to maintain law and order across the affected communities.
The curfew, authorities said, will remain in force until further notice.
Residents of Lamurde Local Government Area have, howver, been urged to comply fully with the directive and support security agencies by providing useful information that could help restore calm in the area.
The governor stressed that the State Government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property and would take all necessary measures to restore peace.
He also appealed to residents to cooperate with security personnel to help return normalcy to the troubled communities.
“The Government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” he added.
