The global demand for impactful leadership and transformative vision continues to grow, yet only a few individuals truly stand out. Esther Eno Asuquo, an award-winning Human Resource Management expert and global education strategist, is one of such individuals making a significant impact. As the CEO of PRIME56 Consulting Ltd, she has become a recognised force, driving change from boardrooms in the UK to campuses across Africa.
In this interview, Asuquo shares insights into her journey, her work across continents, and her commitment to leadership and educational transformation. Excerpts:
You’ve become one of the most talked-about names in Human Resource leadership and talent development. What drives you?
At the heart of everything I do is one passion: to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity. I believe that talent, mainly African, is the continent’s most underutilised asset. I created PRIME56 to dismantle systemic barriers and empower thousands to rise through access to world-class education, career mentorship, and strategic placement.
PRIME56 is now a global brand. What makes your approach different?
We don’t just consult; we transform. PRIME56 isn’t a typical recruitment firm—it’s a career empowerment engine. We’ve partnered with over 100 leading universities across the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and the Caribbean.
On the employment side, our 90% job placement success rate tells our story. We groom leaders, not just workers. Every initiative is curated for impact—from our internship programs to our executive placements across the UK, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
Your leadership has been globally recognised. Could you tell us about some of your awards and recognitions?
I’m grateful for the journey. In 2023, I was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Business Management by IUST in recognition of my work in advancing talent and education. I’m also a Forbes 30 Under 30 Africa nominee for 2025, which is a huge encouragement.
I’ve been a beneficiary of the Erasmus+ Traineeship Scholarship, the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s Entrepreneur Training, and the Flourish Africa Program led by Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, where I was selected from over 13,000 applicants. These awards reflect the work I am doing, and more importantly, they amplify the message that African excellence deserves a global platform.
You’ve been featured in several top publications. How does that visibility shape your mission?
Being featured in People’s Daily Nigeria, Phynazblog, and Connect Nigeria’s CEO Series has been a great honour. But beyond the spotlight, media visibility helps us rewrite the narrative of African women in leadership. It says, “We are not just participants in global conversations—we are leading them.” That’s the energy I bring to every speaking engagement and webinar.
What does it truly mean to be a woman of excellence in HR today?
It means mastering the balance between strategy and empathy. Excellence isn’t a title—it’s a mindset. In HR, it means knowing how to build people, policies, and platforms that outlast you. Knowing that every hire is a decision that can change a family’s future. I’m proud to be among the few elite women at the top of this field, and my goal is to pull others up with me.
You’ve trained over 5,000 young people. Why is mentorship so central to your work?
Dr. Esther Asuquo: Because someone once believed in me, I carry that legacy forward. Mentorship is how we build nations. We run free training on CV writing, university applications, and job interviews. We organise job readiness workshops, and our webinars connect African youths with global experts.
In 2022, I launched the IMPACT Friday Series, an Instagram Live show designed to inspire and educate young professionals navigating their careers. Each month, on the last Friday, I host accomplished professionals who share their career journeys, insights, and advice with a live audience. Every success story we contribute to is a win for the continent.
What can we expect next from you and PRIME56?
Global expansion, more cross-sectoral partnerships, and deeper policy advocacy. We’re launching new programs across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. I want PRIME56 to be synonymous with trust, transformation, and transcontinental opportunity. My dream is a future where merit, not connection, is the strongest currency in employment.
Lastly, for young professionals looking up to you, what’s your message?
Don’t settle for average. Own your story. Invest in yourself. Lead with character, and excellence will follow. And most importantly, build a life that opens doors for others. That’s authentic leadership.
