Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has scheduled a three-day power outage in the Lekki District of Lagos to enable network upgrade works aimed at improving electricity supply in the area.
In a notice to customers, the distribution company said the temporary disruption will affect residents and businesses across the Lekki District and surrounding communities within its network coverage.
According to EKEDC, the planned outage will take place from March 13 to March 15, 2026, as engineers carry out upgrade works at the Lekki Injection Substation.
The company said the outage is necessary to facilitate improvements to the electricity distribution infrastructure and enhance service delivery to customers in the rapidly expanding district.
“Dear Valued Customer, please be informed that there will be a scheduled three-day power outage at the Lekki Injection Substation,” the notice stated.
“Date: 13th – 15th March 2026.
“This planned outage is necessary to facilitate network upgrades aimed at improving operational flexibility, enhancing power evacuation, and delivering better service to our customers.”
EKEDC said electricity supply will be unavailable daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the three-day period while the upgrade works are carried out.
The company noted that the project forms part of broader efforts to modernise electricity infrastructure and strengthen supply reliability across its franchise area.
The Lekki axis has witnessed rapid urban expansion in recent years, driven by the development of residential estates, commercial centres and industrial facilities.
The surge in construction and population growth has significantly increased electricity demand in the corridor, placing pressure on distribution companies to expand network capacity and improve supply stability.
