The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Saturday, apprehended 20 individuals suspected of committing electoral offences during the just concluded local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the anti-graft agency, the suspects were arrested across the FCT for offences including vote buying, vote selling, and obstruction of election officers.
“The total amount involved in the alleged infractions was N17,218,700 (Seventeen Million, Two Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira).

“One of the suspects was caught in Kwali Local Government Area with N13,500,000 (Thirteen Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) in a vehicle parked near a polling stationâ€, EFCC said.
The EFCC said two in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali.
The Commission confirmed that the suspects would be formally charged in court after investigations are completed.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, emphasised the agency’s commitment to ensuring that electoral processes in Nigeria are free, fair, and transparent.
