…say automated applications ease imports, exports clearing
The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Command, has inaugurated a B’Odogwu Data Window System, an indigenous registration portal for shippers, terminal agents, and traders, designed to integrate a single national data system in the service.
Dalhatu Abubakar, the Area Controller in charge of the Command, inaugurated the platform on Tuesday, during a training session organised for terminal operators, traders, and shippers on the new B’Odogwu Customs System in Kano and Jigawa Operational Area.
Abubakar, who said that the initiative would enhance security, efficiency, and ensure that the Customs operations remain locally-controlled and managed, noted over 16,000 applications had been processed on the B’Odogwu system between January and March, 2025.
The Area Controller highlighted that Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had demonstrated competence, commitment, and dedication in transitioning from third-party service providers to the B’Odogwu system, which translates to “Reliable Border System.”
According to him, the system has new features designed for speed, reliability, transparency, and compliance.
He warned that any terminal operators not integrated into the B’Odogwu system would no longer be able to operate in Nigeria.
“To ensure compliance, Customs is actively training terminal operators, shippers, traders, and licensed agents onboarding their licences into the system.

“We are urging all stakeholders to onboard now because once the management fully implements B-Bodogwu, those who fail to register will be left without access.
“Agents must also register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as part of the operational regulations,” Abubakar explainedThis system promotes compliance and reduces irregularities in agents’ dealings with Customs, thereby enhancing transparency in trade facilitation,” he explained
He assured stakeholders that B’Odogwu operates on an independent network with minimal downtime, ensuring uninterrupted service availability.
