Justice Ladiran Akintola of an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Friday vacated an order stopping the election of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2025.
The judge, on Thursday, gave an order stopping the election while ruling on an application brought by a journalist and candidate for the position of Adeola Oloko, secretary-general of CCII.
However, on Friday vacated the order while ruling on a motion filed by the incorporated trustees of CCII and M.K. Lawal, chairman of the electoral committee.
The motion filed by the trustees and Lawal sought the vacation of the earlier order stopping the election.
Justice Akintola, while ruling on the motion, held that he was misled in granting the earlier order, noting that the court was never informed that issues had been joined between the parties.
He subsequently vacated the earlier order stopping the election. So with the vacation of the order, the CCII election is now expected to be held as scheduled.
Kola Olomide, CCII publicity secretary, reacting to the latest development urged accredited voters to come out and exercise their civic rights.
