The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday declined to issue an interim order sought by Sule Lamido, former Jigawa State governor, aimed at stopping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its planned national convention.
Lamido, through his counsel, Jeph Njikonye, SAN, had asked the court to restrain the PDP from proceeding with the convention until his substantive motion was heard and determined.

In his ruling, Justice Peter Lifu refused the application and instead directed both the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) — the first and second defendants in the suit — to appear before the court and show cause why Lamido’s request should not be granted.
The case, filed under number FHC/ABJ/CS/2299/2025, lists Lamido as the plaintiff, with the PDP and INEC as respondents.
