There are indicators that the Atiku Abubakar-led National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) may soon approach the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to register the National Democratic Alliance ADA) as the political platform to wrestle power from President Bola Tinubu in 2027
BusinessDay gathered that the group has perfected their party documents to seek registration, following their inability to collapse into one of the existing political parties.
The group has continued to attract critical and reputable national political figures and is currently being chaired by David Mark, a former Senate President.t
The group had set up a Platform Committee consisting of 15 members and mandated it to form an association applying to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register a new political party.
It was gathered that a series of meetings were held, subcommittees were constituted, and reports have been submitted to the Platform Committee
It was gathered that at the meeting of the New Platform Committee held on Thursday, 19th June, 2025, the Committee passed resolutions:
a. To approve the formation of a political association named All Democratic Alliance.
b. Approved its conversion into the said political association named All Democratic Alliance.
It was also approved that the association apply to INEC for registration as a political party by its name – as All Democratic Alliance (ADA); Others include a resolution approving the Party Logo, Slogan and Motto; the manifesto and Constitution of the Party.
The group also approved the appointment of the Interim Leadership of the party, and Akin A. Ricketts, Abdullahi Musa Elayo were named Protem Chairman and Protem National Secretary.
They also approved the interim leadership of the new political party (ADA) to secure a befitting Office Accommodation of the party and facilitate the registration of the Party with the Independent National Electoral Commission;
When successful, the party will open a Bank Account for its financial transactions; and operate the activities of the party as enshrined in the Constitution of the Party and the Electoral Act. (2022).
The group also approved Rotimi Amaechi, s Chairman, New Platform Committee, while Umar Ardo will serve as Secretary, New Platform Committee.
