The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers NUPENG has again placed it members on ” red alert” following the decision by the Dangote Group to renege on earlier agreement brokered by the federal government on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by William Qkporeha and Afolabi Olawale, the President and General secretary of NUPENG respectively, th union said it is placing all their members on ” red alert for the resumption of the suspended nationwide industrial action.
The threats followed refusal by the Dangote Group to keep to the initial agreement reached on the unionisation of the workers.

Th Union also called ” on the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, all Regional and Global bal Working people and the Civil Society organisations to rise in support and solidarity against this threat of capitalist world”
Recall that the Department of State Security Service DSS had on Tuesday helped to broker peace between NUPENG and the Dangote Group over plans to proceed on strike, following what they described as” unfair labour practices” by the Dangote Group But the organisation accused the Dangote Group of ” negating the resolution reached on the 9th of September”.
The statement said Sayyu Dantata instructed the Truck drivers who are NUPENG -PTD members for several years to remove the union stickers from their trucks”.
Recall that the Dangote Group had signed the agreement on Tuesday to allow for the workers to unionise in the presence of Muhammad Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment and the Deputy Director General of the DSS,
According to NUPENG, ” Today, the 11th of September, he instructed them to forcefully drive into Dangote Refinery to look and Union officials stopped th k from entering the refinery to load because their trucks violated union loading rules and regulations”.
” Sayyu Dantata flew over them several times with his helicopter and then called the Navy of the federal Republic to come over ostensibly to crush the Union Officials.
” Our members are waiting for him and his agents to run them over”.

NUPENG called on the federal government not to allow the Navy and other security agents paid by the resources of this country to be used with impunity against the laws and people of this country ”
The NUPENG while assuring the federal government of its intentions to remain as a petriotic, responsible and responsive organisation, said its ” solidarity remains constant”
