The Bauchi State Government says it will spend ₦3.4 billion on the construction of a modern mega trailer park in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.
Aminu Hammayo, Secretary to the State Government, said the project is aimed at expanding transport infrastructure and boosting economic activity in the state’s northern zone.
According to him, Truck Transit Park Limited will provide 100 percent of the funding, while the state government will retain oversight responsibilities and benefit from revenue generation once operations begin.
Hammayo said the facility will include a fully equipped mechanical workshop for trailers, hotel accommodation, a business arena, and other essential support structures built to international standards. He described the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening commercial activities and improving organised transport services.
Also speaking, Muhammad Kabir Sizwe Sa’id, Director-General of the Bauchi State Markets and Terminals Authority, said the project aligns with the administration’s plan to modernise markets, terminals, and trailer parks across the state. He noted that it will enhance operational efficiency and improve the safety and welfare of truck drivers and traders.
