Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Tuesday held closed door meeting with former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida in his country home, Minna, Niger State.
BusinessDay gathered that Atiku had arrived at the Top hill residence of Babangida at about 1pm and was joined about 40 minutes later by Governor Makinde.
The meeting came on the heels of current political alignment and re-alignments ahead of the next year’s general elections.
BusinessDay reports that Governor Makinde has been a subject of speculations concerning his future after serving as governor.
Governor Makinde had worked to strengthen the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), including sponsoring the party’s recent national convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, which has become a subject of unending litigation.

His efforts led to speculation that he might be eyeing the party’s Presidential ticket in 2027.
Makinde is however yet to come out openly on his ambition, after second term tenure elapse, May, 29th, 2027.
Details of the meeting was being expected at the time of filing this report.
Atiku Abubakar, who was the PDP Presidential candidate in 2023, is one of the frontline contenders for the Presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party he helped put together in alliance with other top politicians.
It was not immediately clear if he is considering picking Governor Makinde as his running mate in 2027.
