The Nigerian Army has announced a screening exercise for children of personnel who died in active service as part of its educational sponsorship programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a notice shared on the Army’s official X handle on Thursday, the exercise will take place across the six geopolitical zones between February and March 2026.
It noted that the programme is part of the Army’s welfare initiatives aimed at ensuring access to primary, secondary, and tertiary education for the children of fallen personnel.
“The screening in the South-South zone is scheduled to hold from February 23 to 26 at the Headquarters of the 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while the South-East exercise will run from February 28 to March 3 at the Headquarters of the 82 Division in Enugu, Enugu State.
“In the South-West, verification will take place from March 5 to 8 at the Headquarters of the 82 Division in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“In the North-East, the screening is set for March 11 to 14 at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Armour Corps in Bauchi, Bauchi State.
“The North-West exercise will hold from March 16 to 20 at the Headquarters of the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna, Kaduna State.
“For the North Central zone and the Federal Capital Territory, the programme will take place from March 23 to 27 at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja”, the statement read.
The Army urged all applicants to come prepared with the necessary documents for the verification process.
“These include a handwritten application letter containing the names of the children, admission letters, including JAMB admission letters where applicable, the last school report cards or results, confirmation letters of pupils or studentship, birth certificates, and Part II orders of birth,” it added.
Other required documents, according to Army, include the death certificate and Part II order of death of the deceased personnel, condolence letters, Notification of Casualty, two recent passport photographs of both the beneficiary and the deceased, account details, telephone numbers, school fee receipts, Bank Verification Number (BVN), and a first-page printout of the bank statement showing the account name and number.
