Alan Jervis, London based insurance expert will lead discussion on how Marine, Energy and Liability underwriting business could enhance Nigeria’s contribution to economic and social developments in Africa.
He was elected as a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1985 and has over 40 years insurance experience, having worked as an underwriter and claims adjuster in the London, Canadian, American and French insurance markets.
The event, which is the Oil & Gas, Energy Insurance programme organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) London and Risk Analyst Consultants (UK) is aimed at enhancing knowledge of practitioners and accelerating economic and social developments.
Billed to take place in from May 19-21, 2025 in Lagos will be facilitated by Alan Jarvis, a chartered insurer, energy and liability insurance expert, the organisers said.
According to the to them, the programme was designed after extensive engagements with practitioners, over the past few months and it is conducted to assist insurance leaders in making positive contributions locally and globally.
“We believe that the creation of a globally recognized high calibre insurance profession in Africa is vital for the continent’s accelerating economy and social development. We trust this programme will be widely welcomed by insurance leaders,” they posited.
They said the programme will be delivered by both local and CII’s network of subject matter experts, adding that the tutors are highly qualified, with decades of practical experience.
Alan Jervis areas of expertise include marine, energy and liability insurance. In the late 1990s, he served as president of the Canadian operations of Maritime Insurance Company and later, established his own underwriting agency, underwriting business on behalf of Lloyds.
Alan has been retained as an insurance expert in over 40 cases and has testified at trial and arbitration. He was elected as a Member of the Academy of Experts in 2021 and elected as an Expert Determiner in 2002.
