Nigerian striker Akor Adams could be forced to leave La Liga side Sevilla, with the club currently unable to register him for the 2025/26 season due to financial constraints.
Adams joined Sevilla from French club Montpellier during the January 2025 transfer window, but his impact has been limited by injuries. The 25-year-old has struggled with recurring hamstring and muscle problems, restricting him to just four appearances for the Andalusian outfit.

Though now fully fit and eager to make a mark in the upcoming season, Adams’ future at the club is uncertain. According to a report from Futbol Fantasy, Sevilla’s tight salary cap may prevent them from registering him for La Liga competition.
“Antonio Cordón faces his first major challenge as Sevilla FC’s sporting director: assembling a squad within the salary cap,” the report stated. “Rubén Vargas and Akor Adams, who arrived in the last winter transfer window, are among those currently unregistered for the 2025/26 campaign.”
The report also mentioned goalkeeper Álvaro Fernández, whose contract was recently extended after a trial period, but he too faces an uncertain future, with the club actively exploring options for his departure.
Sevilla’s financial limitations mean they must offload players or restructure wages before they can formally register Adams and others. Unless the club clears space on the wage bill, Adams may be left without a place in the squad or forced to seek a move elsewhere.
Adams, a former Flying Eagles standout, will be hoping for a resolution that allows him to prove his worth in La Liga after a frustrating, injury-hit start to life in Spain.
