Bassey Ewah, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, on Thursday pledged renewed commitment to strengthening security across the state.
Speaking to journalists during his maiden press briefing in Jos, the new police chief said his leadership would build on existing peace efforts and ensure improved safety for residents, stressing that “it will not be business as usual under my watch.”
Ewah charged officers and men of the command to be disciplined, professional and proactive in tackling crime, noting that the command would work closely with residents to identify and address emerging security threats.

He added that the police would intensify collaboration with other security agencies to strengthen the state’s security architecture. According to him, “we will work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to integrity and dedication in service, expressing confidence that stronger partnerships with communities and sister agencies would help restore Plateau’s reputation as the Home of peace and tourism.
Plateau State has battled insecurity for over two decades, and with the appointment of the new Commissioner of Police, expectations are high that he, working alongside other sister security agencies, will strengthen coordinated efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the state.
