Greek Super League giants AEK Athens have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers in the ongoing summer transfer window.
AEK, aiming to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new domestic and European campaigns, have identified the 30-year-old as a priority target.

According to The Daily Record, Dessers has agreed in principle to a lucrative contract worth €1.8 million annually, approximately £30,000 per week.
“Maverick hitman Cyriel Dessers has shaken hands on a £30,000-a-week deal with AEK Athens. He’s verbally agreed to a deal that will see him earn around €1.8m a year with the former Super League champions.”
Backed by wealthy shipping magnate Marios Iliopoulos, AEK are keen to secure Dessers as their main attacking signing this summer and are prepared to invest significantly to make the deal happen.
Dessers, currently on the books of Scottish side Rangers, is said to be enthusiastic about the move and eager to finalise the transfer.
However, a deal is yet to be struck between AEK and Rangers, who are holding out for a transfer fee close to £5 million. The striker joined Rangers from Serie A club Cremonese in 2023 for £4.5 million.
Rangers’ new sporting director, Kevin Thelwell, is reportedly standing firm on the valuation, citing Dessers’ strong season, where he finished with just one goal shy of 30 across all competitions, as justification.
Dessers has attracted interest from multiple clubs in recent transfer windows. His agent, Stijn Francis, previously confirmed that as many as ten clubs had made enquiries in January, though a move did not materialise.
