Access Bank plc has unveiled plans to enhance academic and moral excellence, financial literacy, reading culture and personal leadership amongst secondary school students across the nation, through the implementation of L.E.A.D Project which represents Leadership, Enterprise and Academic Development.
Project L.E.A.D will be executed in secondary schools across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria as the bank plans to reach more than 30,000 secondary school students, over a 3-year period, who would have been impacted positively and positioned for excellence in their academics, 9leadership skills and financial literacy.
To achieve this, the banks has carefully selected Project Revamp Africa as its technical partners. Project Revamp Africa is an initiative poised to revive educational values, maximize potentials and develop young leaders.
“Providing innovative solutions for the markets and communities we serve is truly a culture that we have imbibed within the organization,” Herbert Wigwe, group managing director/CEO said at the official unveiling of the project.
“Here at Access Bank, we recognise the importance of the society around us as they form the bed rock of our activities both as an organisation and as individuals,” Wigwe said.
Speaking at the event, Victor Etuokwu, executive director, personal banking, explained that the project which would be in phases will during the first phase reach at least 10,000 students in different states of Nigeria. Through a follow up process, the bank plans to raise 1,000 leaders, who will become young role models to their peers and contribute their quota towards the growth and development of their community and indeed the nation at large.
“We are also definite that their improved financial literacy will help them in becoming better money managers as they learn how to make, manage and multiply the money they have”, Etuokwu said.
Also speaking, Kelechi Anyalechi, founder, Project Revamp Africa, said the vision and goal of the Organisation is to restore educational values and maximize potentials, adding that now is the time to bring up the new leaders for a better country.
