Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi have arrested Mkor Aondona, Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning to the Executive Governor of Benue State, over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
The arrest was carried out on Friday, June 20, 2025, by officers of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.
His detention follows multiple petitions from female students who accused the senior government official of sexually exploiting them under the guise of offering them ushering jobs.
According to a statement released on Saturday by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, the victims claimed that Aondona specifically targeted slim and attractive young women, recruiting them for event ushering roles but demanding sexual favours as a prerequisite for selection.
The complaints further alleged that the girls, many of whom were lured into sexual relationships, were unaware that Aondona had been secretly recording the encounters.
He allegedly used these recordings to blackmail them into continued sexual involvement, threatening to release the videos if they refused.
“The suspect is also accused of distributing explicit videos, reportedly taken without consent, across various messaging platforms.
“Some of these videos are said to have already circulated online, deepening the emotional and reputational trauma faced by the victims”, the statement reads.
Aondona is currently in EFCC custody and, according to the Commission, will be formally charged in court soon as investigations progress.
