NSF: Delta FA chairman hails team Delta’s victory over Flamingos

The Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Godwin Adode, has praised Team Delta women’s football squad for their impressive win over Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Flamingos, in the final of the women’s football event at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta.

Expressing his delight, Adode commended the young Delta side for their grit, determination, and tactical discipline in overcoming the more experienced Flamingos in a closely contested final that ended in a draw before being decided on penalties.

“This victory is a testament to the fighting spirit of our girls. They showed great resolve and commitment to beat a team as established as the Flamingos,” Adode said.

The elated football administrator further noted that the team’s performance reflects the Delta State Government’s unwavering commitment to sports development under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He also applauded the efforts of the Delta State Sports Commission, led by Onoriode Oborevwori, for effectively steering the state’s sports machinery towards excellence.

“Despite arriving at the festival with a leaner contingent, Team Delta continues to assert dominance in Nigerian sports. That says a lot about the strategic management and planning of our sports sector,” Adode added.

Adode urged Team Delta athletes still in competition to draw inspiration from their fellow competitors and continue giving their best to bring home more medals.
