New Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has vowed to lead the Seleção to a sixth World Cup title, targeting victory in the 2026 tournament as the national team’s manager.
The 65-year-old was officially unveiled as Brazil’s coach in a news conference at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) headquarters.
Ancelotti’s new role reportedly comes with a pay package of around $11.4 million annually, according to local media, and his son, Davide, will be among his assistants.
The Italian joins the Seleção after a successful four-year tenure as Real Madrid manager, during which he won the Champions League on three occasions and the La Liga title twice across two spells.
Ancelotti’s illustrious coaching career also includes leading AC Milan to two European League titles, winning the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea, and securing domestic titles in France with Paris Saint-Germain and Germany with Bayern Munich.
“I have a big job ahead of me,” he stated. “I’m delighted; the challenge is great. I’ve always had a special connection with this team. We’re going to work to make Brazil champions again. I’m honoured and proud to lead the best team in the world.”
