.…UK, US, Canadian universities to provide scholarship information at upcoming Int’l education fair
According to a 2024 pulse survey conducted by ApplyBoard, 65 percent of international students expressed strong interest in studying abroad at leading destinations such as the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), and Canada despite their high tuition costs.
This preference has remained consistent even as alternative study abroad destinations are gradually gaining popularity, like Finland, Denmark, Germany, China and others.
This outcome followed the earlier finding that 84 percent of respondents prioritised tuition fees as a key factor in deciding where to study. Despite concerns over rising costs, only 9 percent of respondents stated they planned to defer their studies due to financial constraints

The survey of over 3,500 students from 84 countries shed light on the key factors influencing international study decisions. The most represented nations in the study were Nigeria, Ghana, Canada, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India.
While cost remains a decisive factor, students also consider career prospects when selecting a study destination.
Other results of the survey shows that 68 percent consider post graduate work opportunities, 61 percent consider opportunities for permanent migration, 60 percent consider opportunities to work while studying, while 57 percent consider visa processing times and approval rates (57 percent).
Additionally, 55 percent of students said they would have to work part-time to afford their study abroad program.
Khaled El Hennawy, associate vice president, ApplyBoard, says, “Our comprehensive report equips Nigerian students with the insights they need to make informed decisions about their academic journeys and position themselves for success in the evolving global workforce.”
“In a bid to enable these institutions to increase communication about scholarships and financial aid, various institutions in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada will be having an education fair in Lagos and Abuja, where the education recruiters will be available to communicate these to prospective students”.
