Nigerians residing in the United States seeking employment opportunities, can take advantage of free trainings on with entry-level support jobs with placement that can pay up to $20 per hour.
The modules are in medical call centre, office administration, and medical manufacturing and will take place in the month of May till June.
They are organised by Hired, a career services organisation, funded by the State of Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and other organisations to equip individuals with high-demand skills and certifications for stable, well-paying jobs.
Medical call centre training
This training is scheduled to run from May 12 to June 27, 2025 to help participants develop customer service, crisis response, and healthcare systems expertise.
Successful candidates will earn Northstar digital literacy, Microsoft Office specialist, and National Retail Federation certifications, alongside practical experience in medical call centre operations. Additional modules will cover mental health and crisis response, healthcare systems terminology, and customer service skills tailored to medical call centres.
Eligible trainees will receive interview clothing, transport stipends, and a job coach to ensure smooth career transitions. Upon completion, trainees can secure jobs with an average starting wage of $18 to $20 per hour.
Training will take place at the Northwest Family Service Centre, Brooklyn Centre, MN.

Office administration training
For those seeking administrative careers, Hired will also be having an Office administration training programme running from May 12 to June 27, 2025 to equip participants with Microsoft office proficiency, keyboarding, professional communication, and workplace shadowing.
The course is designed to support eligible Minneapolis residents with in-demand office skills, certifications, and direct pathways to employment in public sector institutions.
Participants stand to benefit from a starting wage between $18 and $26 per hour, along with job coaching and placement opportunities with prominent organisations such as the City of St. Paul, Ramsey County, the State of Minnesota, and the University of Minnesota. Additional support services are also available to ensure participants’ success.
The training includes a curriculum featuring North Star digital literacy certifications, job readiness coaching in CV writing and interviewing, mentorship from business professionals and job shadowing opportunities, professional communication skills for the workplace and other skills.

Medical manufacturing training
The training on Medical manufacturing is aimed at those pursuing careers in medical assembly and quality inspection, and will run from May 19 to June 12, 2025.
In partnership with Medtronic, Minnesota, and Staffmark, the four-week course covers digital literacy, resume building, customer service, Microsoft Office training, and hands-on microscope practice. It will also provide a paid stipend and comprehensive skills training.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and fall at or below 200 per cent of the poverty income level. The training covers key aspects of job readiness, including CV writing and interview preparation, customer service skills, and workplace professionalism.
Other support includes interview clothing, fuel or bus cards, and access to job coaches and placement opportunities. Participants will also receive computer and internet assistance to help them navigate the job market effectively.
Additionally, Medtronic, one of the employer partner will offer coaching, mentoring, and hands-on microscope practice, to equip participants with the necessary technical expertise to meet Medtronic’s hiring requirements.
The average wage for anyone in this training is $19 per hour.
Sessions will take place at the Hired Brooklyn Center Office, and applicants must be 18 or older, meet income eligibility criteria, and demonstrate solid reading and communication skills.
