As part of the Group’s ongoing national food intervention programme aimed at alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians, Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has through his Dangote Foundation, donated 20,000 bags of 10kg rice to the people of Taraba State
The bags of rice were formally handed over to the Taraba State Palliative Care Committee for onward distribution to local government areas across the State.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Bello Dan Musa, the Group General Manager of Operations at Dangote Sugar Refinery, who represented the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, explained that the donation was a demonstration of Dangote’s commitment to giving back to society and reducing the burden on vulnerable communities.
“The rice is part of our national food intervention efforts to support communities and cushion the effects of hardship across the country,” he said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the State Government, Saleh Sa’ad, Chairman, Taraba State Palliative Care Committee, expressed deep appreciation to Dangote Foundation.
He said the Foundation had shown immense compassion and love to the people of Taraba, adding that the intervention was timely
“We thank the Dangote Foundation for this timely intervention and we want to urge other well-meaning Nigerians to him. On our part, I want to assure you that the distribution of these bags of rice, would be carried out fairly and transparently across all local government areas of the state”, Saad stated
He further noted that the donation aligns with humanitarian focus of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration in Taraba State.
Also speaking at the event, Aminu Hassan Jauro, Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State, thanked Dangote Foundation for its generosity and emphasised that the donation had already lifted the spirits of many at the grassroots and would undoubtedly reach those in need.
“This gesture from the Dangote Foundation is highly commendable. The local governments are indeed overwhelmed with gratitude,” Jauro said.
