President Goodluck Jonathan said on Thursday in Abuja that winners of political contests must represent their entire constituencies and use available resources for the benefit of all.
Jonathan gave the admonition when he received a delegation of elders from Zamfara led by Governor Abdulaziz Yari at the State House, Abuja.
“After elections, rulers represent everybody, regardless of whether they voted for you or not.
“So, all citizens should be beneficiaries of national or state resources”, he said.
The president said that the duty of any government should be to spread development, without seeing it as a favour to the people.

He said his administration would continue to do its best for all citizens, within the limits of available resources.
Jonathan described Zamfara as a “potentially rich state, with solid minerals and the capacity to produce enough rice to feed the country”.
He stressed the need to properly manage the environmental challenges associated with the exploitation of minerals.
Jonathan thanked the delegation for coming to appreciate the Federal Government on the siting of a university and the release of N837.5 million to check lead poisoning in the state.
Earlier, Yari had described Jonathan as “a national leader who treats all Nigerians equally, regardless of party affiliation”.
