In a major boost to transparency and drug safety, the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has launched the NAFDAC Greenbook, a comprehensive database of registered drugs in Nigeria.
The Greenbook unveiled on Wednesday is a soft document that provides information on 6,432 registered pharmaceutical products in the country.
The initiative follows a bout of crackdowns on counterfeit pharmaceutical products in Nigeria by NAFDAC.
It’s available for download on mobile app stores, making crucial drug information available to the public.
The database also has drug information streamlined to aid healthcare professionals in making informed decisions on prescriptions and dispensation of medicines.
“This initiative represents a shared commitment to building a robust pharmaceutical oversight framework, ultimately ensuring Nigerians have access to safe and effective medicines,” the agency stated.
