The All Progressives Congress (APC) is in the lead as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the announcement of the results of the governorship election in Bayelsa State.
From the results announced so far, the APC has won in four of the six local government areas while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won in two local government areas.
APC won in Nembe, Brass, Yenagoa and Ogbia LGAs while PDP won in Sagbama and Kolokuma/Opokuma LGAs.
So far, APC has a total of 206,260 votes to PDP’s 124,930, giving the opposition party a lead of 81,330 votes.
With only Southern Ijaw and Ekeremor LGAs remaining, APC may be on course to clinching the Bayelsa State governorship election with an overwhelming majority vote.
Southern Ijaw is the home of the APC governorship candidate, David Lyon and he is expected to win there, while Ekeremor could be taken by the PDP due to its proximity to Sagbama and similar voting pattern.
