The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reportedly delivered judgment on the Rivers state governorship election held on April 11.
The appeal court has upheld the ruling of the tribunal, therefore, Governor Nyesom Wike’s election stands nullified.
Four out of the seven issues raised by Governor Wike has been resolved by the court against him and in favour of Dakuku Peterside, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate.
The tribunal headed by Justice Suleiman Ambrosa had in a judgment on October 24, 2015, nullified Wike’s election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct fresh election.
Wike had challenged the verdict of the tribunal, as he filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal, asking the court to set aside the judgment of the Rivers state governorship election tribunal which voided his election.
