The boardroom at BusinessDay was transformed this Monday into a space of celebration, reflection, and high-spirited camaraderie as the organization’s female staff gathered to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026. Under the theme “Give to Gain,” the event centered on the internal strength of the company’s women, who play a pivotal role in driving the media giant’s 25-year legacy.

Moving beyond symbolic gestures, the forum provided a platform for female managers to share insights on leadership and the practical application of this year’s theme.

Ijeoma Ude, the Executive Director of Business Media Sales and Marketing, set a bold tone for the day, urging women in the industry to occupy their space with confidence. “I really don’t think women in sales should be intimidated by the space,” she noted, emphasizing that hard work and strategic positioning allow women to thrive in any environment.

The theme Give to Gain was echoed as a strategy for mutual growth rather than a sacrifice. Esther Ekeoma, a sales manager, highlighted that at BusinessDay, “Collaboration is not weakness; it’s a strategy. Supporting other women does not reduce my own space; it expands the table”.

This sentiment was reinforced by the observation that the company’s growth and revenue are directly linked to the increasing number of women in managerial seats, making a great impact.

Speakers also touched on the intentionality behind the success of women within the organization.
“At BusinessDay, women don’t just rise to the top, they soar to the top by deliberate designs, occupying critical roles in finance, human capital, and strategy.

The editorial leadership was also praised for its commitment to visibility, ensuring women are entrusted with complex assignments and investigations, rather than being sidelined.
While the morning was filled with profound insights, the afternoon shifted to a more relaxed and festive atmosphere. To strengthen internal bonds, the staff participated in a series of games and fun activities designed to foster the very collaboration discussed in the panels.
From team-building challenges to lighthearted competitions, the energy in the room was a testament to the resilient women who make up the fabric of the company. The laughter and engagement served as a reminder that the “Give to Gain” philosophy starts with investing time and joy into one’s own colleagues.
