Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the August 8, 2026, governorship election, citing what he described as the growing popularity of the ruling party at both national and state levels.
Oyintiloye said the achievements of President Bola Tinubu, the performance of APC governors across the country, and the legacy of past APC administrations in Osun had strengthened the party’s appeal among voters.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker argued that the Tinubu-led Administration’s policies had enhanced the party’s attractiveness, prompting politicians from other platforms to align with the APC.
He pointed to the recent defection of five federal lawmakers from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties to the APC as evidence of growing support for the party and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
According to him, the defections, as well as public endorsements of the President’s second-term bid, signal increasing confidence in the APC and suggest that the party is well positioned to reclaim power in the State.
“The movement of key political figures into our party shows that the people recognise the APC as the platform capable of delivering good governance..Our candidate, Oyebamiji, has the competence, integrity and track record needed to fulfil his promises and move the state forward. We are confident of victory,” he said.
Oyintiloye also credited the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, whom he described as the leader of the party in the State, strengthening party cohesion and expanding its political base.
He said Oyetola, working with other party leaders and stakeholders, had built a framework that welcomes defectors while maintaining unity among existing members.
The APC chieftain urged residents of the state to disregard what he termed negative propaganda from rival parties, assuring them that an APC-led government under Oyebamiji would bring renewed development and improved governance to Osun.
