The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revoked 485 area council land allocations in Bwari, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Kuje after a verification exercise found the documents to be fake or not genuine.
The decision, approved by Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was conveyed in a public notice issued by the FCTA through its Department of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS).
According to the notice, the affected applications were submitted for regularisation but failed official scrutiny. The administration said the approvals were nullified after the documents did not pass the required checks and were confirmed to be fake.
The revoked applications will be removed from the regularisation database maintained by the Department of Land Administration and AGIS. The notice listed affected applicants by name, file number, layout and area council, and advised title holders to take note. It added that the publication is without prejudice to further notices.
The allocations cut across several districts and settlements in the FCT.
In Bwari Area Council, the affected layouts include Ushafa Village Expansion Scheme, Ushafa Extension and Dawaki Extension I.
In AMAC, the cancelled allocations cover Kurudu-Jikwoyi Relocation, Kurudu Commercial, Karu Village Extension, Nyanya Phase IV Extension, Jikwoyi Residential, Sabon Lugbe and Lugbe I Extension. In Kuje Area Council, Kuchiyako One Layout is affected.
Land in the FCT is vested in the Federal Government under the Land Use Act of 1978, with statutory rights of occupancy issued by the FCT minister and administered through AGIS.
The action is part of efforts by the FCTA to address forged titles, double allocations and irregular land documentation at the area council level.
Officials said the revocations relate to forgery and failed authenticity checks, not unpaid ground rent or non-development.
